Taiwan Studies Program

 

The National Science and Technology Council Taiwan Studies Program (TSP) aims to foster international research on Taiwan. The TSP provides funds to help top universities develop Taiwan studies programming, and supports international collaboration on Taiwan-oriented research projects and publications, nurtures Taiwan's connections to global academia, and strengthens international Taiwan studies networks.

 

TSP fund amounts and timing depend on the specific grant:

Mentorship

TSP provides funds up to USD $20,000 (or the equivalent amount in local currency) per grant. Each grant period lasts 2 years. Full annual fund will be remitted by the STPI to the mentor’s account provided by recipient institution within 30 days after the MOU is finalized.

Tenure Track Professorship

The amount of funding depends on the final decision of the academic review committee on the application. TSP provides funds not exceeding USD $120,000 (or the equivalent amount in local currency) per year during the award period. The first annual installment shall be remitted by the STPI to recipient institutions within 30 days after the MOU is finalized. Other yearly installments will be remitted annually.

Endowed Chair

The amount of funding depends on the project submitted by the applicant institution and the decision of the academic review committee. TSP provides funds not exceeding USD $1,000,000 (or the equivalent amount in local currency) for a single university. Full funds should be remitted by the STPI to recipient institutions within 30 days after the MOU is finalized.
