Tele-Conference of Medical Experts from Taiwan NRPB and UT System

Leading by Prof. Yang, Pan-Chyr, a group of 10 delegations from Taiwan National Research Program of Biopharmaceuticals (NRPB) visited University of Texas System campus on May 25. Visitors were composed of professors of Medical College of National Taiwan University, China Medical University, and researchers of Biological Chemistry Institute of Taiwan Academia Sinica, and National Science Council. The meeting was hosted by two Associate Chancellors, Prof. Patricia Hurn and Pro. Klein Dale. In addition, representatives of MD Anderson Cancer Center, UT Houston Public Health School, and UT Medical Branch (Galveston) also joined the tele-conference meeting. The main purposes of this meeting are to introduce the organization and functions of NRPB to UT System and to discuss the possible directions for future collaboration. Areas such as drug discovery and development, discovery of novel therapeutic targets in cancers, infectious diseases, metabolic diseases, degenerative diseases and/or hereditary diseases as well as Phase I clinical trials were proposed. Besides, ideas of personnel exchange program including but not limited to young scientists exchange and medical student internship exchange are also discussed. This meeting plays an important role as a kickoff of partner relation development.
