On April 6, Dr. Chou, Director of S & T Division, was invited by UH Chinese Faculty Gathering Organization to give a speech at their 2012 spring program. There were 26 faculties from various colleges attended the meeting at the Moody Towers Conference Room, including Prof. Paul Chu, the Director of Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston (TCSUH), and Prof. Thomas Hsu, the Chair professor of Department of Civil and Environment Engineering. Dr. Chou spent 40 minutes or so to share two topics with the audiences. The first one was a brief introduction of Taiwan Science Parks and it was followed by a technical presentation entitled “Techniques for Runway Skid Resistance, Analysis, and Improvement”. Both topics attracted audiences’ attention and quite a few questions were given after her presentation. In addition to the invited speech, the Houston Chinese Faculty Association was officially formed in this evening program after many years of preparation. The first president, Prof. Patrick Leung - a professor from College of Social Work, was elected by all the participants. Treasurer and other 8 board members were all elected as well. This organization will welcome all the faculty members in great Houston area who would like to join. It is anticipated that the Association will be very active and energetic in the coming years under the new leadership.
