ACAP Student and Young Professional Workshop held on March 9

The Association of Chinese American Professionals (ACAP) and Science & Technology Division of TECO in Houston co-sponsored the 3rd Student and Young Professional Workshop on March 9, 2013. This is the third workshop in the consecutive three years, and the size is getting big and big each year. A total number of 200 or more participants attended the workshop which was held at Culture Center of TECO in Houston. ACAP also invited 30 plus mentors who have more than 20 years working experience in various areas in US. The main purpose of this workshop is to share the working experience and job market information with the young scholars in addition to network building. President Billy Liu also briefed two coming events of ACAP. One is the “2013 Diversity Summit” on May 4th and the other is the “2013 Science, Engineering, and Technology Seminars (SETS)” on June 15. The latter includes student technical paper contests which had a great success in 2012. Director General Liao, TECO in Houston, was invited to give a speech, too. He complimented ACAP a great success for celebrating her 35 years anniversary, and this is the only one in the world of its kind that continues the active functions with updated needs. Each table has 2-3 mentors who are in the same working area, such as finance, civil engineering, petroleum engineering, biomedical, chemical engineering, accounting, education, etc. Young scholars took free seating with their own major. Q&A continued for hours. The workshop lasted for almost 6 hours and it was concluded extremely successful.
