The delegation composed of the National Development Council (NDC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and other associated governmental agencies has visited central and eastern European countries. An MOU on space technology cooperation was signed by Dr. Wu Jong-Shinn, director general of the National Space Organization, and the chief customer officer(CCO) and founder of the Lithuanian satellite company NanoAvionics, Linas Sargautis, on October 27th, under the supervision of Minister Wu of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Aušrinė Armonaité.
Minister Kung Min-Shin of the National Development Council (NDC), Vice Minister Chen Chern-Chyi of the Ministry of Economy Affairs (MOEA), Minister Jurgita Siugzdiniene of Education, Science and Sport (MESS) of the Republic of Lithuania, and Vice Minister Jovita Neliupšienė of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation were present at the ceremony.
NanoAvionics is a startup established by the Vilnius University of Lithuania, mainly committed to integrating cubic modules the production and mission of miniatured satellites. NanoAvionics has established factories in both North America and Europe with over a hundred employees in total. Focused on producing new designs for cubic modules and miniatured satellites, and also providing propulsion systems for the CubeSat market, the startup has successfully launched over 90 satellites and business plans.
Based on the MOU, the National Space Organization and NanoAvionics plans to implement a business-oriented pilot project, utilizing IoT or image applications for the development and commercial operation of CubeSats satellite galaxies based on customer and user needs, and proposing missions and business plans for mutual benefits. In addition to signing the MOU, Dr. Wu paid a visit to NanoAvionics and made further discussions on future cooperation possibilities, hoping to make Taiwan the base for further collaborative developments in Asia.
