The Asian Institute of Technology promotes technological change and sustainable development in the Asian-Pacific region through higher education, research and outreach. Established in Bangkok in 1959, AIT has become a leading regional postgraduate institution and is actively working with public and private sector partners throughout the region and with some of the top universities in the world.

 

Recognized for its multinational, multi- cultural ethos, the Institute operates as a self-contained international community at its campus located 40 km (25 miles) north of Bangkok, Thailand.

 

Besides the usual labs and academic buildings, the main campus includes housing, sports, and medical facilities, a conference center, and a library with over 230,000 volumes and 830 print and on-line periodicals. All serve to fulfill the AIT mission -to develop highly qualified and committed professionals
who play leading roles in the region's sustainable development and its integration into the global economy.

 

Visiting AIT

AIT is located 40 km north of Bangkok on Paholyothin Road.
Taxis from central Bangkok cost a minimum of Baht 300, depending on traffic conditions at the time.
AIT is located 16 km north of Bangkok's Don Muang International Airport.


Transport from the Airport is available by Airport Limousine (Baht 600, US$ 16) and by taxi (Baht 200-250).

Two air-conditioned bus routes terminate at AIT - No. 29 (Downtown-Airport-AIT) and No. 39 (Downtown Victory Monument - Paholyothin Road - AIT.)

Working Hours - 07:30 to 15:30 daily
Holidays - Thai official holidays in addition to an official week-long break from the end of December through New Years' Day. 

 

Temporary Accommodation

Temporary accommodation can be arranged at a Bangkok hotel. A single room at a first-class hotel would cost at least Baht 2000 daily.
Accommodation at the AIT Conference Center Hotel on campus is available to conference delegates, training program participants, AIT staff, faculty, students, alumni and their immediate families. Single rooms, twin-bed rooms and suites can be booked. Information about longer-term accommodation for students and faculty/staff is available as is information from the Housing Office .

 

Meals

The AIT Conference Center Dining Hall is open for service everyday from 07:00 to 22:30. Meals cost about Baht 100. A variety of Thai, Muslim and Chinese food is available at the Student Cafeteria, which is open from 07:00 to 20:00. A meal in the cafeteria costs about Baht 30.
