The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) as a public organization by the virtue of the Royal Decree promulgated on November 2, 2000 under the Public Organization Act of B.E.2542. The main mission of GISTDA is in the area of geo-informatics and space technology development. The responsibilities of GISTDA include satellite and geo-informatics data acquisition, production and distribution; provision of consultancy in terms of data application and utilization; transfer of technology and research and development in geo-informatics and space technology. GISTDA also serves as a core agency in establishing spatial data infrastructure including data standardization in co-operation with relevant organizations. Networking with national and international agencies is an important mechanism of GISTDA to achieve its objectives.

 

Functions
1. To develop space technology and geo-informatics to benefit the country as a whole.
2. To apply satellite remote sensing data and serve as a center for satellite based natural resources data sets and derived information.
3. To distribute data and services on space technology and geo-informatics
4. To provide services in capacity building and provide technical consultations on remote sensing and GIS.
5. To conduct research and development in related fields include development of small satellite.
6. To serve as a core agency for remote sensing and GIS data standardization.
