Wireless communication technology evolves one generation approximately every 10 years. The 6G standardization in 3GPP is estimated to start in 2025. The future 6G researches will aim at achieving extremely high-speed transmission, wide area coverage, smart and multi-functional communications. This program supports B5G/6G cutting-edge technology researches of academic community in three major areas, namely electromagnetic and RF technologies, communications and transmission technologies, networking technologies and communications software.
This program hopes to achieve breakthroughs in key technologies, such as terahertz communications, intelligent transmission, open source core network and communication software, etc. In addition, this program also supports participations in international 6G standardrization activities and cultivation of high-level R&D talents needed by the industry, for the purpose of helping the domestic B5G/6G telecommunications industry to create more values and enhance their R&D competitiveness.
