About This Panel Discussion:
Taiwan has been praised in the previous weeks by the media and other countries for its handling of the COVID-19 outbreak. With this being the first showcase of Taiwan’s ability to assist the world, let’s discuss how Taiwan can utilize its access to its production industries, as well as its strength in technology and innovation to create new solutions to the crisis, as the spread of the virus challenges health and economic stability worldwide.

Our Guest Speakers
About Professor Jason Wang:
Professor C. Jason Wang, MD, PhD, is Director of the Center for Policy, Outcomes, and Prevention, and Associate Professor of Medicine at Stanford University. He also co-chairs the mobile health and other new technologies group at the Stanford Center for Population Health Sciences. Aside from BS and MD, PhD degrees from MIT and Harvard, and UCSF residency, he performed policy analysis at RAND, and worked at McKinsey in China and was also a project manager for Taiwan’s Healthcare Reform Taskforce in 2000. In 2012, he co-founded MedicusTek, a global medical internet of things and patient safety startup. Among his honors, he has spoken at Harvard Medical School commencement and is a recipient of the 2011 NIH Director’s New Innovator Award. While he has authored numerous books and scholarly articles, his most recent article in JAMA, “Response to COVID-19 in Taiwan: Big Data Analytics, New Technology, and Proactive Testing” was viewed 831,000 times (as of April 16, 2020); and was covered by 193 media outlets world-wide.
About Minister Chen Liang-Gee:
Minister Dr. Chen Liang-Gee, PhD, leads the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan. As Minister, he oversees the bulk of nationally supported science and technology research and development. He was involved in some notable projects which included the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program, expansion of the use of educational technology and artificial intelligence in Taiwan, and his creation of the NTU Garage startup program, and LIFT overseas talent development program. Dr. Chen was also deputy dean of the department of electrical engineering and EVP of academics and research at National Taiwan University, and a Fellow of the IEEE.
