National University of Tainan Department of Visual Arts and Design Recruitment Guidelines for Newly Hired Full-Time Faculty

1. Number of Position
One full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or above.
2. Date of Appointment To commence on August 1, 2026.
3. Qualifications
1. Education: Possess a doctoral degree in an art-related field recognized by the Ministry of Education,with expertise in art creation.
2. Academic Specialization: Capable of supporting and teaching graduate courses such as “Oil Painting Research” and “Trends in Contemporary Art,” as well as undergraduate courses such as “Contemporary Painting Creation” and “Watercolor.”
3. Achievements: Artworks must have received major awards from internationally or domestically recognized authoritative institutions.
4. Experience:
a. Priority given to candidates with verified teaching experience at universities or colleges.
b. Priority given to candidates with teacher training experience and those who have implemented projects commissioned by government agencies.
c. Priority given to candidates with international, interdisciplinary, or relevant practical experience.
4. Application Period
1. From October 20, 2025 to January 16, 2026. Applications are accepted by postmark only (in-person submissions not accepted).
2. Mailing Address: Please send by registered mail to “Personnel Office, National University of Tainan,No. 33, Section 2, Shulin Street, West Central District, Tainan City 70005.” Please specify “Application for Faculty Position in the Department of Visual Arts and Design” on the envelope.

5. Required Documents
1. Photocopies of bachelor's degree and all higher degree certificates (one copy each). For holders of foreign doctoral degrees, please first certify your diploma or provisional graduation certificate and transcripts at a local overseas office.
2. Photocopy of the front and back of the National ID card.
3. Transcripts for both master’s and doctoral degrees.

4. “National University of Tainan Faculty Application Basic Information Form” (see attachment; in
addition to hard copy, please email an electronic copy to Ms. Hu, Department of Visual Arts and Design,
at jshu@mail.nutn.edu.tw).
5. Photocopy of teacher’s qualification certificate (if available; omit if not).
6. Photocopy of military discharge or exemption certificate (if available; omit if not).
7. Doctoral dissertation.
8. Important published research works, creative reports, and art catalogs.
9. Course syllabi for courses you can teach, including “Oil Painting Research,” “Trends in Contemporary
Art,” “Contemporary Painting Creation,” and “Watercolor.”
10. Any other materials that may assist in the review process.

6. Notes
1. If fewer than 10 applicants apply, the announcement period may be extended as needed.
2. Candidates are required to conduct a teaching demonstration in English.
3. Newly hired full-time faculty must undertake administrative duties for two years and teach at least one course per semester in English or as an EMI course , as well as to support the offering of teacher education courses related to the field of arts.
4. If applicants wish to have their materials returned, please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope with appropriate postage.
