Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Materials Science and Engineering at National Taiwan University
Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at National Taiwan University (NTU) invites applications for 1–4 tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, with appointments starting February 1, 2027 or August 1, 2027.
Position Overview
We seek outstanding candidates to join our dynamic and internationally recognized MSE programs. Successful candidates will contribute to cutting-edge research and deliver high-quality education in materials science and engineering.
Qualifications
Education: Ph.D. in MSE-related fields.
Research Excellence: Demonstrable records of outstanding research achievements.
Research areas: Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
 Emerging materials
 Ceramic materials and ceramic-based composites
 Polymers and soft materials
 Energy materials
 Electronic materials
 Magnetic materials
Teaching: Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate MSE courses in English, with the following courses being preferable:
 Ceramic Physics, Ceramic-Matrix Composites, Electronic Ceramics
 Solid-State Physics, Magnetic Materials, Electronics Packaging, and other Electronic Materials-related courses
 Polymer Chemistry, Physical Chemistry of Polymers, Polymer Physics, Polymer Composites, Polymer Processing (Rheology)
 Other courses related to emerging materials

Please include the following in your application:
1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
2. Copy of Ph.D. diploma (for overseas degrees, certification by an R.O.C. (Taiwan) embassy/consulate/office may be required at the finalist stage)
3. Contact information of three references, which should include doctoral dissertation supervisor(s) for applications of an assistant professorship
4. Copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts
5. Reprints of up to five representative publications published within the past 5 years
6. A statement outlining future research plans
7. A statement of teaching interests, including outlines for 2–3 courses to be taught in English
Compensation & Start-up Funding
Compensations are based on government-mandated scales. Merit-based bonuses are available through programs such as:
 Ministry of Education’s Yushan (Young) Scholar Program
 Ministry of Education’s Incentives for Newly Hired Exceptional Talent
 NTU’s Eminence Chair Professorships and Eminence Scholar Fellowships
 NTU’s Academic Research Performance Incentives
The department provides support for applications to these programs/incentives. Competitive start-up funds are offered by the department, the engineering school, and the university. Opportunities of increased start-up funds are available to qualified candidates.
