National Ilan University, Forestry and Natural Resources Department recruiting for assistant professor (or above) full-time position

1) Position: One full-time permanent or contract role available at assistant professor level or above.
2) Required qualifications:
a. A doctoral degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Wood Science, or a closely related field.
Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Wood Physical Science and at
least one of the following interdisciplinary areas:
i. Wood/Bamboo Composite Materials
ii. Wood Environmental Science
iii. Forest Harvesting
iv. Non-destructive Evaluation of Biomaterials
v. Wood Structure Design
b. Able to teach in English.
c. Experience in industry–academia collaboration or research project execution is preferred.
3) Job description:
a. Teaching in Forest Products Science, Special Topics on Processing of Wood Materials,
and at least two of the following courses, conducted in English in compliance with EMI
(English medium instruction).
i. Wood Quality Research
ii. Wood Environmental Science
iii. Forest Harvesting Operations
iv. Wood Structure Design
v. Non-destructive Testing of Biomaterials
b. Research and service.
c. New lecturers will teach according to their department’s curriculum and assist with
specialized research endeavors and talent cultivation within the college.
d. Assist the university with matters including administrative business, social responsibility
initiative and sustainable development.
e. A proven ability and passion for conducting research, and willingness to contribute to:
i. Departmental and university-level talent cultivation programs
ii. University social responsibility (USR) initiatives
iii. Sustainable development–related projects
4) Application materials:
a. Required documents
i. CV (including education, professional experience, publication record, research
direction, noting ability to teach in English/Chinese curriculums).
ii. Copies of academic diplomas.
iii. Copies of relevant works and/or papers published in a credible database (please
note whether you are the first author or corresponding author).
iv. Supporting documents for proof of ability to lecture in English, or requisite
explanation.
v. Two letters of recommendation.
vi. Affidavit regarding whether the appointee (or incumbent personnel) has
household registration in Mainland China or holds a Mainland China passport,
identity card, permanent residence certificate, or residence permit.

i. Copy of government-issued teaching certification.
ii. Copy of current letter of employment.
iii. Any relevant documents to past research projects and/or industry-academia
cooperation.
iv. Any other documents favourable to review.

7) Notes:
a. Qualified applicants who pass initial screening will be notified and invited for an
on-campus interview and trial lecture in English. Applicants not currently holding a
government-issued teaching certification who pass the initial screening and interview
process will have their application referred to an external reviewer before being
submitted to NIU’s teacher evaluation committee. Successful candidates will be notified
by letter.
b. Incomplete applications and applicants lacking necessary qualifications will not be
considered (please note application documents shall not be returned).
c. Benefits for new teachers: New teachers may apply for a 3-hour reduction in teaching
hours each semester. Those who obtain government agency research funding may also be
eligible to receive an additional subsidy of up to 50%.
