National University of Tainan Department of Culture and Natural Resources Faculty Position Announcement

I. Position
One full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or above in the Department of Culture and Natural Resources.

II. Expected Starting Date
February 1, 2027 (Specialization: Geography-related fields)
Application Deadline: May 20, 2026 (postmark date)

III. Qualifications
1. Educational Background
• Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in a geography-related field from an institution recognized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE). Candidates who have passed the doctoral dissertation defense but have not yet received the degree certificate must provide official verification of successful dissertation defense.
2. Academic Expertise
Physical Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and AI Applications in Geography.
3. Research Performance
Applicants must have at least three papers published or accepted (Acceptance letters for papers not yet published) for publication since 2020 in domestic or international peer-reviewed academic journals.
4. English-Medium Instruction (EMI)
Applicants must be capable of teaching in English and are required to offer at least one English-taught or EMI course per semester.

IV. Required Application Materials
1. One copy of diploma certificates for all degrees (Bachelor’s and above).
2. One copy of national identification document (front and back).
3. Signed Consent Form for Providing Personal Data for Faculty Application (National University of Tainan).
4. Declaration regarding household registration, passport, ID card, settlement permit, or residence permit status in Mainland China (if applicable).
5. Items below must be submitted in two complete sets, bound separately:
(1) Official transcripts for Master’s and Ph.D. degrees.
(2) Faculty Application Information Form of National University of Tainan.
(3) Copies of relevant employment certificates.
(4) Doctoral dissertation.
(5) Offprints or copies of major research publications formally published within the past five years.
(6) Academic Expertise: Physical Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS),and AI Applications in Geography.Applicants should be able to teach geography-related courses at the undergraduate,master’s, and in-service master’s levels. Areas of teaching may include Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications, Cartography, Water Resources Conservation, and Remote Sensing.
Applicants are required to submit syllabi for six proposed courses they are able to teach. The proposed courses should demonstrate the integration of AI in teaching,Tainan Studies, and interdisciplinary perspectives programs.
(7) Any additional materials that may assist the review process.

V. Application Deadline
From the date of announcement until May 20, 2026 (postmark date will be regarded as the submission date).

VII. Additional Notes
• Shortlisted candidates will be invited to conduct a teaching demonstration in English.
• Newly appointed faculty members are required to undertake administrative duties for two years.
• Responsibilities include applying for research grants and assisting with departmental admissions and student recruitment.
• Newly appointed faculty members must offer at least one English-taught or EMI course per semester.
• If fewer than ten applicants apply, the announcement period may be extended if
necessary.
• Applicants wishing to have their documents returned must include a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage.
