Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology introduces mentors from Silicon Valley, paving the way for startups to go global

Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA), sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), hosts the TTA 2019 Boot Camp with Google for Startups and 500 Startups to support these potential tech startups that will be participating in the international event in CES 2020. Three international active mentors in Silicon Valley startup ecosystem: Mr. Amrit Dhir, Head of Startup Connections of Google for Startups, Mr. Sheel Mohnot, Managing Partner of 500 Startups and Mr. Peter Yu, CEO of Prepflash, along with Mr. Rey Lo, Senior Trainer of POWER FOR PITCH, are invited to coach startups on their pitch skills and look into business models in the Silicon Valley way.

 

CES 2020 Taiwan Tech Arena Taiwan Pavilion


MOST led 44 top-tier innovation teams to strive in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from January 8th to 11th, 2019, winning more than NTD 5.5 billion in business opportunities and the attention from 20 international media.


In order to assist Taiwan startups further explore global market, MOST expects to lead startups to build a national pavilion in CES 2020 for 3 consecutive years. This time, we look forward to having 80 startups that have best minds in IoT, health tech, robotics and AI etc. Hence, the TTA 2019 Boot Camp provides customized assistance services for the startups that have the potential to attend CES.


In the 2-day boot camp, mentors from Silicon Valley have customized the training courses with one-on-one coaching and small group sessions in order to guide startups to deliver their best performance in international events, including getting more connection with the startup world, learning basic skills in marketing, business formation and strategy. The Pitch Session also serves as a tryout stage for these candidates before they hit the road to Las Vegas to demonstrate their innovations.

TTA, organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), is a tech startup ecosystem building program launched in June of 2018. TTA has partnered with overseas innovation organizations such as French Tech Taiwan、Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) and well-known accelerators like SOSV MOX、SparkLabs Taipei、IAPS and BE, to progressively integrated startup programs including training provided into an innovation resources platform which can be leveraged by all the actors in the startup ecosystem in Taiwan. It continues to direct resources from major startup clusters around the world, such as Silicon Valley, and to cooperate with impactful international entrepreneurial events, such as CES. Its visions are to be the foundation of global tech venture, to be the cultural fusing hub of startups, and to be the voice of Taiwan tech startup ecosystem.
