Uber Taiwan Becomes a TTA Corporate Partner

After CES 2019, Dr. Yu-Chin Hsu, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) led a delegation from Taiwan to visit Advanced Technologies Group of Uber HQ in San Francisco, and then announced that Uber Taiwan an official corporate partner of the MoST’s Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) located in Taipei.

 

“TTA aims to have more partnerships with prestigious international companies in 2019. We are pleased to have Uber, one of the highest ranked unicorn startups, joining TTA, and build a world-class high-tech startup ecosystem together”, said Dr. Yu-Chin Hsu.

 

Uber Taiwan is expected to hold startup events at TTA. For instance, fostering talents in autonomous car field, having reverse pitch, pitch events, mentors sharing experiences, networking events, providing other startup resources, connecting the ecosystems of Taiwan and Silicon Valley, and etc.

 

The MoST has successfully converged Taiwanese software engineers working in marketing, autonomous engineering, insurance and delivery sharing areas at Uber. Many of them were entrepreneurs or had been worked at startups. The MoST will invite them to participate in mentor talks and other events held by the Science and Technology Division in San Francisco to assist them to join the ecosystem in Silicon Valley.

 

Other Talent Cultivation and Exchange Program

 

The MoST also invited Uber to join the talent cultivation and exchange program. The Ministry looks forward to having a six to twelve months training program for Taiwanese high-tech talents at Uber’s HQ this year, and expects future fellows to contribute to Taiwan’s startup and high-tech ecosystems.

 

Taiwan Tech Arena Leading Tech Startups to Achieve Global Market

 

Launched in June 2018, TTA is a flagship program funded by the MOST. The program aims to connect global resources, build a more high-tech startup friendly ecosystem, and foster high-tech entrepreneurship in Taiwan. TTA hopes to attract global and domestic talents and actively foster the innovation of technology industries by building a co-creation platform for startups, accelerators, venture capital, and corporate partners. To date, plenty of public and private international partners are located in TTA, including French Tech Taiwan, Canadian Technology Accelerator, SparkLabs Taipei, BE Capital, SOSV-MOX and IAPS. One hundred and fourteen deep-tech startups were attracted to TTA in 2018. Additionally, TTA is collaborating with more than twenty corporate partners such as Acer, CTBC Bank, Wistron, ChungHwa Telecom, Microsoft, nVidia, Audi, DBS and etc. in multiple spaces.
