•This proposal will use bio-inspired engineering approaches to characterize and mimic the unique properties, structures, functionalities and behavior of various biological materials from nature and further develop novel intelligent biomimetic materials
•Unlike traditional approaches, this proposal involves the use of 3rd generation materials technology, computational science and simulation, and incorporates big-data driven science to construct a biomimetic materials database and MGI (Materials Genome Initiative) platform
•The biodiversity in Taiwan provides abundant bio-inspiration. Combination of biomimetic materials with the MGI design platform will lead to novel technologies and new industrial opportunities.
