National University of Tainan (NUTN) Department of Music Recruitment Announcement for New Full-time Faculty

I. Vacancy: 1 Position

II. Expected Start Date: August 1, 2026 (Subject to administrative procedures).

III. Qualifications:

1.Educational Background: Must hold a doctoral degree in a music-related field or possess an Assistant Professor certificate (or higher).
2.Academic Specialization: Applicants should hold a degree in Music Perfor-mance/Vocal Performance or Musicology.
3.Teaching Responsibilities: Beyond proficiency in applied music instruction (studio teaching), candidates must be capable of teaching core theoretical and foundational courses. Preference will be given to interdisciplinary talents who can integrate per-formance practice with academic theory and demonstrate experience in securing ex-ternal resources from government or private sectors.
4.Academic Research Performance: Candidates must meet at least one of the follow-ing criteria:
i.Demonstrated ability and experience in applying for and executing projects from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Ministry of Education (e.g., Teaching Practice Research Program), Ministry of Culture, National Culture and Arts Foundation, or other government and private foundations.
ii.A record of publications in A&HCI, Scopus, THCI, TSSCI, or music jour-nals recognized by the Department; or possess equivalent performance technical reports/monographs (please specify).
5.Language Proficiency: Must be capable of teaching in English and is required to of-fer at least one English-Taught Course or EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) course per semester.

IV. Required Documents:
1.NUTN Consent Form for Provision of Personal Data for Faculty Applicants.
2.Affidavit regarding household registration, passport, ID, or residency status in Main-land China.
3.Photocopies of diplomas (Bachelor’s degree and above). For foreign doctoral de-grees, diplomas or temporary graduation certificates and transcripts must be authen-ticated by an overseas representative office of the ROC.
4.Photocopy of both sides of the National ID card.
5.NUTN Faculty Applicant Information Form (see attachment). In addition to the hard copy, please email the electronic file to: wyc127@mail.nutn.edu.tw.
6.Photocopy of Teacher’s Certificate (if applicable).
7.Photocopy of Military Discharge or Exemption Certificate (if applicable).
8.For those holding an Assistant Professor certificate (or higher), provide one photo-copy of the certificate.
9.For those without a teaching certificate: Three copies of the doctoral dissertation or equivalent academic works/audiovisual materials. Due to varying university regula-tions, please submit complete materials as required by the institution that granted the degree.
10.Personal Profile including: (1) Academic and professional experience (including pro-fessional associations); (2) Areas of expertise; (3) Current and future research direc-tions.
11.Applicants must provide supporting documents for the application or execution of research projects funded by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) or the Ministry of Education (MOE) Teaching Practice Research Program. Alterna-tively, evidence of research excellence is required, such as publications in A&HCI, Scopus, THCI, or TSSCI journals; or other domestic/international professional music academic journals recognized by the Department; or equivalent performance tech-nical reports/monographs (please specify clearly).
12.Syllabi for large-class courses the candidate is capable of teaching (excluding cham-ber music and orchestra).
13.Any other supporting materials beneficial for review.

V. Application Deadline: From now until May 20, 2026 (inclusive, as evidenced by postmark).

VII. Remarks:
1.Shortlisted candidates will be required to conduct a teaching demonstration in Eng-lish.
2.Newly appointed faculty members are obligated to serve in administrative roles for two years.
3.Newly appointed faculty members are obligated to offer one English-taught or EMI course every semester.
4.If the number of applicants is fewer than 10, the announcement period may be ex-tended as necessary.
5.Applicants wishing to have their materials returned should provide a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage.
