[The Ecological Acoustics and Spatial Ecology Lab] We are seeking two research assistants

The Ecological Acoustics and Spatial Ecology Lab is led by Associate Researcher Tuanmu Maoning and focuses on integrating ecological big data with statistical analysis tools. By examining the species and trait composition of biological communities, the team seeks to understand the spatiotemporal dynamics of biodiversity and explore the impact and implications of environmental changes. The goal is to use the power of science to promote friendly interactions between humans, wildlife, and the environment. Current research topics include the dynamics of biological communities in urban and agricultural ecosystems, the impact of green energy development on ecology, the dynamics of soundscapes under environmental change, and the evolution and diversity of bird eggs and nests. Individuals interested in biodiversity information and conservation are welcome to join our team!

Specialist in Biocommunity Analysis Research topics include monitoring soundscapes and utilizing AI for automatic recognition tools to study the spatiotemporal distribution of biological communities, and the factors and mechanisms affecting them.

Responsibilities:
1.Quantify the structure and composition of biological communities using soundscape monitoring data.
2.Analyze the relationship between environmental factors like landscape and climate and the spatiotemporal distribution of community composition.
3.Write research reports and articles.
4.Handle other tasks assigned by the team or collectively decided upon.

Required Qualifications:
1.Experience in biocommunity data analysis.
2.Patience, attention to detail, and responsibility.
3.Ability to solve problems independently and work collaboratively with others.
4.Basic English communication and literacy skills.
Desirable Skills:
1.Ability to recognize bird, frog, or insect calls.
2.Experience in soundscape data processing and analysis.
3.Experience in spatial data processing and analysis.
4.Willingness to travel and work in the field (average 3-5 days per month).

Specialist in Soundscape Temporal Data Analysis Research topics include studying the impact of extreme weather events on biodiversity through soundscape changes and identifying factors affecting the resilience of biological communities.
Responsibilities:
1.Use soundscape temporal data to quantify changes and resilience in soundscapes before and after events.
2.Analyze biotic and abiotic factors affecting resilience.
3.Maintain soundscape monitoring stations and manage data.
4.Write research reports and articles.
5.Handle other tasks assigned by the team or collectively decided upon.
Required Qualifications:
1.Experience in sound data or temporal data analysis.
2.Willingness to travel and work in the field (average 3-5 days per month).
3.Patience, attention to detail, and responsibility.
4.Ability to solve problems independently and work collaboratively with others.
5.Basic English communication and literacy skills.
Desirable Skills:
1.Experience in animal ecology, behavior, and evolution research.
2.Experience in database management.

Application Documents:
1.Resume (Please include your motivation & qualifications for the job, and how you are suited for the position).
2.Attach or list any advantageous conditions.
3.Transcripts, abstracts of thesis, and other supporting documents.
4.Names and contact information of two referees.
