The Department of Foreign Languages at National Chiayi University is seeking one suitable tenure-track assistant/associate/full professor whose employment will start on August 1, 2026.
Job Title: Tenure-track faculty
Rank: One (1) full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or above
Academic Qualification: Ph.D. degree (in the field of English teaching obtained from a domestic or foreign university)
Qualifications
(Full-time faculty members must meet both conditions I and II)
I. From the date of obtaining the Ph.D. degree to the date of application, the candidate must meet one of the following conditions:
(1) Have at least two years of full-time teaching experience at a college or university and at least two SSCI journal publications.
(2) Have at least two years of full-time postdoctoral research experience and at least one SSCI journal publication.
(3) Have made outstanding achievements in academic or professional fields (either in Taiwan or abroad), supported by clear quantitative or qualitative evidence of these accomplishments.
Notes:
1.The period of teaching or research experience (Items 1-2) is calculated from the date of receiving the doctoral degree to the application deadline.
2.The SSCI publications for Items 1-2 must have been published within five years prior to the application deadline.
3.For co-authored journal articles submitted as representative works, the applicant must be first author or corresponding author. For co-authored books, the applicant’s contribution must be clearly indicated.
II. Applicants who do not hold a foreign Ph.D. degree or do not have at least one year of postdoctoral research experience abroad must submit proof of foreign language proficiency, such as an official certificate or other supporting documentation.
Language proficiency standards and acceptable forms of evidence are listed in the attached table.

7.Three representative works from the past five years (including the doctoral dissertation; printed or photocopied)
8.Teaching syllabi for courses the applicant is qualified to teach
9.Statement of future research directions
10.Two sealed and signed recommendation letters with contact details of the referees (The letters can either be enclosed with the application documents or emailed from the referees to the department.)
11.Other supporting materials supporting the review process (e.g., research grants or projects funded by national or international agencies, teaching certificate, proof of teaching experience, or professional licenses.)
12.Affidavit regarding whether the prospective employee (or current position holder) has household registration in Mainland China or possesses a Mainland Chinese passport, identity card, residence permit, or residence certificate. (To be completed only by individuals who hold a Taiwan household registration.)

Other Acceptable Evidence of Foreign Language Proficiency
1. Having received National Science and Technology Council funding for postdoctoral research abroad for more than one year.
2. Having conducted research abroad for more than one year.
3. Having served as a visiting scholar abroad for more than one year.
4. Providing documented evidence of teaching courses conducted in a foreign language.
5. Conducting a full English oral presentation or teaching demonstration during the departmental review interview.
6. The entire interview should be audio and video recorded and archived for reference.
