For keeping Taiwan’s AI research community’s momentum, National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) has integrated the academic and research competences accumulated through previously funded AI innovation centers and promotes the “AI Thematic Research Program Coping with National Grand Challenges” through continuously funding universities to organize cross-domain research teams. The strategic purposes are to develop cutting-edge AI technologies, to nurture high-level research talents, to incorporate the operation mechanism of trustworthy AI, data governance, humanities, and regulations, to focus on AI as the core to respond to national important needs, to strengthen achievements dissemination and international exchange, and further to shape Taiwan as the AI research hub with higher international identity and influence.
