Taiwan Gender Equality Week 2023

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the United Nations’ principal intergovernmental body dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment. It is the highest women’s human rights commission in the United Nations. The annual meeting of the CSW has been held at UN headquarters in New York since 1987.

The 67th session of the CSW (CSW67) will be held in person this year from March 6 to 17. The priority theme will be “innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.”

Taiwan is internationally recognized for advancing gender equality. During CSW67, Taiwan nongovernmental organizations will promote gender equality initiatives. At side events, they will share Taiwan’s gender equality achievements. These actions will continue to elevate Taiwan’s image.

Alongside the CSW67, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Foundation of Women’s Rights Promotion and Development will hold several events to celebrate Taiwan Gender Equality Week.

  1. Taiwan Night – Celebrating Women in Tech

Taiwan Night will be held at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in New York at 19:00 (EST) on March 7. Attendees will include distinguished guests from Taiwan’s diplomatic allies, overseas Taiwanese, NGOs, and Taiwan’s CSW67 delegation.

Featuring thematic films and a hybrid “multiverse” fashion show, the event will underscore Taiwan’s commitment to gender equality and showcase the successes achieved by its public and private sectors working jointly to further technological development and gender equality.
