International research programs

PPP, Project-based Personnel Exchange Program

These projects aim to enhance scientific cooperation between partner countries, to expand the possibility of the involvement of researchers and students. Program is oriented mainly on basic research. Topic of the project is decided by proposers together with their foreign associate. Evaluation of project proposal is carried independently by each funding institute, upon which the best of both sides are recommended for funding. Budget covers mainly personal exchange expenses.

Call of PPP is usually in the first half of year with application deadline in summer. Results should be announced in January of following year, the latest. Time schedules of institutions do not match. 

The project duration is 2 years and Taiwan provides in general 240 000 TWD per project.

 

JRP, Joint Research Project

Program is oriented mainly on applied research. Topic of the project is decided by proposers together with their foreign associate within thematic areas selected by institutes. Evaluation of project proposal is carried independently by each funding institute, upon which the best of both sides are recommended for funding. Budget covers mainly research related expenses. Each funding institution provides funding based on mutual agreement and the amount does not have to match. Call of JRP is usually in the first half of year with application deadline in summer. Results should be announced in January of following year, the latest. Time schedule of institutions do not match. 

The duration of the projects is 3 years and Taiwan provides in general 1 200 000 TWD per project per year.

 

Short study visit

The aim of these visits is to get familiar with the research counterpart and its institution, to reach an agreement on future cooperation in selected topic (e.g. the preparation of application for international research project). Visit is usually realized under existing agreement between European and Taiwanese institution. Traveler and host have to separately apply for funding travel expenses at their respective institutions.

 

Visegrad – Taiwan Scholarship Program

The International Visegrad Fund (IVF) was founded on 9 June 2000 by the four member states of the Visegrad Group: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia (V4 countries). The IVF office is presently based in Bratislava and its official language is English. The four member states contribute annually equal shares to the IVF budget.The IVF mission is to promote the development of closer co-operation between the member states in the area of culture, science and research, education, youth exchanges, tourism and cross-border co-operation, through its grant and scholarship programs.

MOST – IVF cooperates in form of exchange program for PhD candidates and Postdoctoral scholars usually for 10 months stay.

Horizon 2020

Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation program ever with nearly 80 billion EURO of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) - In addition to the private investment that this money will attract. It promises more breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market. Seen as a means to drive economic growth and create jobs, Horizon 2020 has the political backing of Europe’s leaders and members of the European Parliament. Each European country has its own NCP information office. Project calls within respective research fields are opening throughout whole year.

Taiwan as non-European country cannot receive funding from European Commission, but Taiwanese researchers can be important members of research consortium. For this purpose MOST has H20 office and offers independent funding to cover costs within Taiwan. For more information:

Delta

The DELTA program is aimed at supporting collaboration in applied research and experimental development projects through joint projects of enterprises and research organizations supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, TACR and major foreign technological and innovation agencies and other similar agencies with which TACR has/will have at the time of publication of the public tender in research, development and innovation established collaboration.
