Statistical Discipline of the MOST provides with a constructive support for the statistical research community of Taiwan to develop the data science. Therefore, the Discipline encourages research in both the statistical theory and methods that help analysis and interpretation of data raised from a variety of problems under investigation. The Discipline also promotes interdisciplinary and integrated research that would have an important impact and contribution to the society.
The statistical review panel of the Discipline is mainly responsible for the review of research proposals and allocation of research grants. Research proposals under consideration should have innovative statistical theory and methods that are applicable to, for example, finance, industry, medicine, environment and social science. The panel also takes partial responsibility on the evaluation or cultivation of research manpower.
